1961 - Graduates from Manchester University with a degree in Architecture. In the same year he wins a Henry Fellowship allowing him to study for a Master's Degree in Architecture at Yale University (United States). At Yale he meets his future partner Richard Rogers and James Stirling.
1963 - Foster and Rogers set up practice called Team 4 with Sue Rogers and Wendy Foster.
1967 - Norman and Wendy Foster establish Foster Associates, now Foster and Partners, with head offices in London and branches in Berlin, Frankfurt, Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.
Since it opened the studio has been awarded more than 220 prizes and acknowledgements and won 50 national and international competitions.
