Family: Married 1) Frances Reidy, 1943 (died 1983), two sons; 2) editor Thelma Schoonmaker, 1984. Career: Worked in various capacities on films of Rex Ingram, Léonce Perret, Alfred Hitchcock, Lupu Pick, from 1922; director, from 1931; senior director-in-residence, Zoetrope Studios, 1981. Died: In Gloucestershire, 19 February 1990.
