BUM KUN CHA
Bum-Kun Cha is the greatest player South Korea has produced and as such has the respect of all his players. He played in the German Bundesliga for almost a decade for Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen. In one of the Europe's toughest leagues he scored 98 goals in 308 appearances. Cha won more than 100 caps and was a member of the team which went to the 1986 World Cup finals. Now as coach he is bidding to mastermind South Korea's first victory in the finals. He has been national coach since January 1997 and has reinforced his reputation as a strict disciplinarian. Cha has skilfully combined some of the older players from the 1994 World Cup squad with the younger members of South Korea's 1996 Olympic team.
